Aircraft Hanger

A New Aircrft Hanger was required for the storage of light aircraft in Kerry.
Lynch and Associates were asked to undertake the structural design for this project.
Unlike coventional storage hangers, this project required a 40m wide opening to the front to allow aircarft to pass through.
This opening was fitted with a specialised rolling door that was supported from the top.

The hanger was designed as a single span 40m Portal Frame.
A unique double Pratt Truss was designed for the front elevation to accomadate the specialised rolling door.
